"The
location is great, the hosts are friendly and helpful, the bed was
extremely comfortable and the bedroom very well appointed. The free
drinks and snacks available 24/7 were particularly good as was the DVD
library and DVD player in the room." |

Built in
1734, Amerscot House is a center chimney colonial home, one of several
from that era that remain in Stow today. Documents record all the
owners of the property from Deliverance Wheeler, who bought the land in
1743, up until the present day. The original owners paid for the land
and house in £’s sterling – as their purchases pre-dated independence
from Britain and the US Dollar! Stow is amongst the earliest of the colonial
towns and was first settled in 1660. Minutemen from the town marched to
nearby Concord on April 19th 1775 in response to the British attack that
sparked the Revolutionary War.
The house has been lovingly restored and extended. The
spacious rooms are now painted in cool, fresh colors, are furnished with
antique furniture and display original artwork. The18th century wide pine
floorboards remain, as do the fireplaces, staircase and all
the historic features that make the house so special. What has been
added are amenities essential in the 21st century – efficient heating
and air conditioned cooling, bathrooms with plentiful hot water, the
finest linens, towels and toiletries, flat-screen cable TV/DVDs,
complimentary WiFi, guest computer and printer, toweling robes…and so
on.
There are extensive common areas for guests to enjoy – the Sitting Room,
the Screened Porch, the Conservatory and of course the nearly 3 acres of
grounds. So, pick your spot, find your favorite seat and relax with a
cup of tea or coffee, or maybe a glass of wine or a beer. While you are
our guest, Amerscot House Inn is your home!
